Captivating Moments in Reit im Winkl

From February 2 – 4, 2017 our rent a village by xnet® team took the occasion for trip to Reit im Winkl to get to know natives and village even better. It proved more than worthwhile! I`m Angela Malsiner, Project Manager with rent a village by xnet®, and I would like to share my personal impressions of my stay in our very latest partner village with you.

My first impressions of Reit im Winkl

For me it’s the first trip to the Bavarian village Reit im Winkl. The trip alone is already something special. Depending on where you come from you cross the German-Austrian border more than once without even noticing. It seems as if there weren’t any borders in this village. Also without limits is the view that expects us once we reach the village. Directly behind the festival hall there is a sunny and lofty plain, surrounded by snow-covered mountains. In winter time – amongst other purposes – it’s used as a cross-country stadium and in summer for all different kinds of activities. I catch myself daydreaming, imagining various scenarios of events. I’m inspired.

Real personalities in the village

We meet Ernst Reiter, former biathlete and bronze medal winner at the Olympic Games. A truly interesting person and the biathlon site there is the most advanced one world-wide. Although living in Innsbruck he actually implements many biathlon events in Reit im Winkl. Impressing us with his personal history and edgy background knowledge on this sport, he invites us to an exclusive biathlon challenge giving us a foretaste of possible company events of the future.

In evening we go for a walk in the village together with Marlies Speicher, the good soul of the village. She tells us stories about the place, talks about traditions and the strong bonds between the people living in the village. You can’t overhear how much she enjoys living here. And no matter who you talk to, it’s the same with all locals.

During the short time in Reit im Winkl I had the opportunity to meet many locals and entrepreneurs. You’re on a first name basis with everyone right away and feel at home from the first moment. The really amazing infrastructure of accommodation and event locations somehow – without me realising it – have taken the back seat.

I would like to take this occasion to thank Mayor Josef Heigenhauser and the Tourist Office for the warm hospitality and the interesting exchange on rent a village by xnet®.

My conclusion

Our unique event concept is as unique as the people accompanying us. In Reit im Winkl we have found the kind of reliable companions that are so important for our events. This village is a jewel in Upper Bavaria that expresses excactly what we strive for – truly captivating moments.
